ABOUT

I’m Luke and I’m the CEO here at Beat Foods, I founded the business in 2017 off the back of our acquisition of Square Pie. Since then I’ve worked hard to put Square Pie back on track and develop new brands for the business. We launched Hallouminati late 2018 then acquired Nantwich Cheese in 2019. I’m Cheshire born and bred, although I spent 6 years in Liverpool as a student. I’m married with 2 Cocker Spaniels (Buddy & Hollie) and 2 Rabbits! I’m not your average boss, I don’t believe in rules or barriers, we pay well, recruit the best, don’t say no very often, deliver people with the very best tools to do their jobs and support them every step of the way. I want work to be fun for everyone. I know a lot of businesses says that they’re a family but for the most part we actually are, I’m lucky enough to work with my Dad, my step mum, even my little sister who does our social media part time and my best friend.

Experience

I graduated with first class honours from The University of Liverpool in 2012 with a law degree, I completed my masters in the same subject the following year. After years of hard graft training as a solicitor, I just felt a career in Law wasn’t for me. Along came Food and saved me from a long and dull existence! I started life in Cheese working for a manufacturer of all types of hard cheese and gained experience in a variety of markets from Foodservice, Wholesale, Manufacturing and of course retail. After 5 great years learning my craft, it was time to move on, so I went to work for another food business running the major retail channel that launched restaurant brands into retail, working on famous brands such as Nando’s, Pizza Express, GBK & Wahaca. I’m lucky to have worked with EVERY major retailer in the country at some point in my career but have spent the most of my time on the top 4, building close relationships with Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda & Morrisions, The role and brands were great and I definitely got an insight into the corporate world as well as working on leading brands but ultimately the business wasn’t a great fit and I wanted to do things differently rather than just talk about doing things differently so along came Beat, from then on, I haven’t looked back. We started out of my dining room with just my contacts and some great products, from there we acquired Square Pie and made it better, developed and launched Hallouminati then in 2019 took on Nantwich Cheese. We’ve grown from £0 to £15M in group revenue in 2 years and have a solid plan to get to £50M inside 5 years. I’ve had plenty of help along the way and those people know who they are and how grateful I am to them for their wisdom and guidance.

Proudest Moment

If you asked me a couple of years ago I would have said graduating or my wedding day, these are still incredibly proud moments for me but now it has to be the business, I started it from scratch, put blood sweat and tears into it, made so many tough decisions along the way its hard to remember them all but have built the start of something that I know will grow and grow and I hope remain in my family for many years to come.

Passionate About / Believes In

I’m a big believer in controlling your own destiny. Nothing in life is free, good things come to those who work hard for them not those who wait! If you want something in life, you’ve got to grab it with both hands. Work/Life balance is incredibly important to maintaining a healthy mind, I’ve been the victim of falling short of that a couple of times and it’s not a good feeling! As for passions, Well, Food is an obvious one, I LOVE eating! But my biggest love in life is my family. I’m very lucky to have a big family full of incredible people that make me a better person, every day.

ABOUT

The names Wright……Ben Wright and I’m a buyer here at Beat Group working alongside Wayne Morgan and purchasing anything and everything from packaging, consumables, raw materials and ingredients. My journey began with Beat in January for 2020 but I have worked in food all my adult life. Born in Nantwich, Cheshire which is where I have lived ever since day 1. I consider myself a very easing going but driven person both inside and outside of work. I take work very seriously but also like to think I have fun along the way, “If it's not fun, you're not doing it right.”

Experience

It took 2 years and a BTEC in Business for me to realise I preferred a hands-on approach to work. From the age of 18 with my first employer I went from line op role to stock controller and then onto warehouse manager and finally Operations manager gaining key skills and knowledge as I progressed. I then worked for one of the world’s largest Cereal manufacturers and I now come to Beat with 13 years of experience in the food industry and eager to learn more, bettering both myself and the business. I have a large appetite not just for food but for success, I love solving problems big or small and being able to see things through from start to finish doing what I can to reach personal and company goals.

Proudest Moment

I would genuinely have to say the day I was approached to come and work for Beat (and that’s not because the CEO can read this). After working hard for 10+ years, building myself up to a point where someone outside of my working environment recognised and appreciated what I’d achieved and thought “I want him to work for us” that was a great feeling.

Passionate About / Believes In

You get out of life what you put in, in all aspects. Always treat others how you’d want to be treated and never forget your roots. My first boss said to me once “Be nice to everybody on your way up as you have to meet them on the way back down”. FOOD!!! Both working with, cooking with and most importantly eating. Food is one of the few things on earth I think really brings people and more importantly family’s together. Along with food obviously family, friends and Manchester United Football Club.

ABOUT

Hi I’m Ben and I have recently joined the Beat team as Group Head of Commercial. I am a proud father of 3 daughters so as you can imagine I don’t get much of a say at home! I am a big sports fanatic and currently manage the local men’s football team. I like to stay fit and enjoy family adventures and walks.

Experience

I graduated University at Plymouth with a degree in Sports Management which was a combination of Business studies and P.E. in the summer I graduated I took up a role as a temporary marketing manager for a local, small family business that imported Continental Cheeses this role was predominately retail focused. As the company grew, I worked my way around the business to develop my skill set, roles including Logistics Manager, looking after supply chain, Stock control and Sales Support. Sales was definitely the area that I gelled with the most. I soon got the buzz for selling and winning new business, and in the next few years, my colleague and I set up the foodservice division, which we grew from £1m to £15m in 3 years. It was in this time I truly appreciated the relationship side of sales, and working in partnership with customers to help them succeed in their businesses. After a 10 year career, I left to broaden my knowledge and skills and moved to a cheese manufacturer that worked with Mozzarella & Cheddar. I worked in this role for 7 months, looking after the QSR customer base, along with Independent and Group Wholesalers. It was during this employment that I was approached to join the Beat Food Group Team, my role is to grow the Foodservice and QSR side of the business. Selling cheese has been my working life to date and now my portfolio includes delicious pies too.

Proudest Moment

My proudest achievements in my home life surround the typical right of passage mile stones. Buying my first house was significant however becoming a proud Dad to twin daughters has to be the icing on the cake. In my career as a salesman, winning my first big customer was a great feeling, and fuels the desire to achieve more. Managing the launch of Halloumi Fries into the UK wholesale market was a big achievement for me, from the concept, to sourcing, to distribution and costings, I lead the entire process with a successful response from both customers and consumers, to see this product initiative doing so well in the Pubs and Restaurants gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

Passionate About / Believes In

I am true believer in building relationships whether it be with customers, work colleagues, or family and friends. It obviously helps when you have great products to sell and have a strong team around you, both at home and in the work place.

ABOUT

I’m Wayne Morgan and I am the Chairman and Buying Director at Nantwich Cheese. I first started off my working life after leaving school in 1977 where I gained an apprenticeship at Crewe Works (British Rail). In 1982 I took over the families Cheese Business due to my fathers’ death, this was mainly a Market Stall Business with a few wholesale customers; I then joined a local company JS Bailey in 1989 where I spent 8 very happy years. Shortly after I moved down to Somerset where I became MD of a Cheese Wholesale Company, before setting up my own business Quantock Cheese a few years later with my wife Clare. In 2006 we sold that business and moved back to Cheshire to re- join JS Bailey Ltd, we then left in June 2009 to set up our very own Nantwich Cheese. We’ve had a few ups and downs over the years, but it’s something that I’m very proud of as we continue to grow as part of The Beat Foods Group, where I am now Chairman. In 2014 I set up Cheese Solutions which concentrates in the further processing of cheese and that continues to strive today.

Experience

My cheese experience comes from two sources, firstly my father Denis owned a few market stalls where I spent many Saturday’s working with him at one of them, that’s where my love of cheese started. I then went to work for JS Bailey and worked under John Bailey which was as happy as I’ve been in work. We had many experiences, too many to tell on here, but he taught me all about cheese trading and mainly buying cheese and its him who I attribute my success to. I was taught to work hard and enjoy work, as you are there most of your life and we certainly did that.

Proudest Moment

I have quite a few proud moments in my life as you can imagine. Firstly, getting married to my gorgeous wife Clare, having my 4 children who I live for and have worked this long for, and for my granddaughter, the apple of my eye. My next proudest moment was when we joined The Beat Food Group, this enabled me to achieve what I set out to do and that was to turn Nantwich Cheese into a family business with my son Luke at the helm. My last one as expected by many who know me, is around cricket. I’ve been Chairman of Nantwich Cricket Club for 5 years now and it’s a huge honour as I’ve been there since I was a boy in 1971, and even before with my Father playing there as well. Last year we reached the National Club Championship Finals at Lords, which is something I will never forget.

Passionate About / Believes In

I love my sport, I’m a season ticket holder at Manchester United and Crewe Alexandra, which my son Denny and I attend with friends. As I’ve said I’m Chairman of Nantwich Cricket Club and every Saturday in the summer I will be found down at the ground from morning until night. I love socialising with my friends who are like family to me and going to concerts on a regular basis is also a favourite of mine; other than that its just loving life and living it to the full.

ABOUT

I joined the business in April 2018 and delved into the wonderful world of Square Pie. Being a true foodie, I absolutely love my job - having the opportunity to help nurture, create and bring new brands to life whilst identifying and managing their perfect route market is the icing on the cake for me. I’m a real family person and I believe we have a great family ethos here at work. Our Loyal and ever-growing customer base is testament to the way we work and how we operate.

Experience

I began my career in sales at age 18. I started in Cheese working for one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, it was there I gained exposure to and invaluable experience across all sectors, from wholesale and foodservice through to manufacturing and retail. I managed the company’s largest accounts and built up a fantastically loyal customer base, some of which are still with me today. After many successful years of working within the dairy industry, I moved away from food for an opportunity to join a global blue-chip company where I refined my sales strategy and benefitted from their corporate disciplines. After a short 2 year stint I found myself missing the food industry more and more. When Luke approached me with an opportunity to Join Beat it was like the stars were finally aligned and I haven’t looked back since. I am absolutely passionate about our business, our brands and our products, what we do and the journey we are on. I demonstrate this daily through a strong conviction that what I do truly makes a difference. I carry myself with integrity no matter the situation and genuinely strive to understand my customer’s needs and desires. I fell in love with the sales profession because of the freedom, flexibility, and daily learning on offer. I have always been driven by the simple notion of, the more you put in the larger the reward. The truth is that good salespeople are focused on offering the best solution to a buyer’s problem and here at Beat we approach the sales process from the perspective of giving not getting. When you focus on serving others, people naturally want to do business with you. I learn something new every day, and I love that no two days in this business are ever the same. I am hooked by its never-ending challenges, constant engagement with new people, eliminating obstacles, handling complex decisions, and ultimately beating our competitors ????

Proudest Moment

The day I picked up the keys to my first house! it was a feeling of great achievement and I’m proud to fly the flag for independent women…Good things come to those who don’t wait and work really hard for it!

Passionate About / Believes In

I am a huge foodie and love nothing more than dining out at my favourite restaurants with family and friends, I appreciate great food and great company. I love shopping (too much!) and long walks in the country with my dog Fitz, especially when they end at a cute little coffee shop. I believe in treating others how you wish to be treated, being kind, gratitude and second chances.

ABOUT

You may ask, as I did myself, what does a Customer Experience Director do? Well, I want to ensure all our customers get everything they need from us as a business and that they can rely on our hassle free personal service. I started my career in cheese at the tender age of 19, working in my hometown of Somerset for a Farmhouse Cheddar producer and I can say cheese has been a part of my life ever since, I found my vocation in life, It sounds cheesy but I love it. It is also how I met my husband. We have 2 children together; I am a stepmother of 2 and a Nanny.

Experience

After school I went to college doing a Higher National Diploma in Business & Finance, no idea of what I really wanted to do. I got my first real job working in accounts for a Farmhouse Cheddar Producer in the heart of Somerset, I loved it but found the sales side more of interest to me and after several years in accounts, I finally moved into sales. I worked with great people where I learned a lot about cheese, grading and selling to the wholesale/foodservice and manufacturing businesses; I gained several years selling for this company then it was time to move on but I stayed within the cheese business. I have gained extensive knowledge of my customer base and supplying cheese into all areas of businesses. Back in 2009, my husband and I were given the opportunity to start our own business and so Nantwich Cheese was born. We have seen good and hard years, finally seeing our most recent change with settling into the Beat food Group which has given us a new focus and enthusiasm for the business to grow.

Proudest Moment

Well I have several, mainly around my family. Firstly, getting married to my amazing husband and then the births of our 2 children, they make me so proud every day with how they are growing into thoughtful young adults. I am also very proud to have seen both my stepchildren settle down and get married, become a nanny in 2008 and watch her grow into a confident young lady. I am also proud to have run the Great North Run in a respectable 1hr 58mins in 2013 for my 40th year and raise money for Cancer Research in memory of my Dad. When I crossed the start line I could have burst as it was very emotional. I then went onto run another half marathon the following year in Chester.

Passionate About / Believes In

I am passionate, hardworking and have a strong work ethic. I am self-disciplined but also enjoy being part of a team. I believe in you live and learn and there is no mistake’s just lessons learned. Be the best person you can be and be true to yourself, your family and friends. I love to cook with a glass of wine particularly when its for my family and friends, enjoying social evenings with the music blaring and having a boogie. I enjoy regular spin classes. My dad had a cleaning business, so I have always enjoyed cleaning even before Mrs Hinch

ABOUT

I’m Adam, I’m 30 years old and originally from Chester, Cheshire, I moved into Whitchurch in 2016 after meeting my girlfriend Samantha, since then a lot has changed for me, I left my long term job of 10 years in the event industry and joined the team at Nantwich Cheese Company, I bought my first house and on the 1st of January 2020 my first son Harry was born. I am a huge F1 fan and one of my ‘Bucket List’ activities would be to go to Silverstone to see the British Grand Prix.

Experience

For 10 years I worked and managed an event company, focusing on private events such as weddings and parties, whilst I enjoyed and thrived in this role after 10 years I needed a change. When I first arrived at Nantwich Cheese I was working in production, within in 6 months I’d worked, understood and supervised the running of all the production lines on site. After 12 months the opportunity came up to join the operations team, assisting the Production Manager and Operations Manager in the day to day running of the factory. I spent the next 18 months mainly focused on Quality Assurance and Hygiene standards across the site. While this is a challenging role in any environment, I enjoyed the time spent learning in depth about food safety and the principles and importance of HACCP. I achieved a level 3 in HACCP and Food Hygiene.

Proudest Moment

My proudest moment at work would be leading my first BRC audit and achieving an AA grade. The whole team on site made a fantastic effort and the hard work by all paid off. I was immensely proud of everyone that day. Outside of work buying my first house and welcoming my amazing son into the world were the best 6 months of my life.

Passionate About / Believes In

I believe hard work pays off, and determination and persistence are the best ways to achieve goals, both personal and professional.

I'm Adam and I head up the E-Commerce channel within the business, working alongside the wider commercial team. I've spent my entire working life within E-Commerce and Multi-Channel for one of the largest retailers in the UK before moving to the other side of the fence with DPD heading up strategy for their international business. After 2 years at DPD I realised that I missed the fast pace of E-Commerce and the customer centric nature of the role. When the opportunity came up to work in a small but fast growing business where I could build the channel from the ground up I jumped at the chance. As its a completely new area of the business I can't really share too much about my role, all I can say is watch this space! Away from work, I'm married and have 2 cocker spaniels, Buddy and Hollie, oh and 2 Rabbits!
